Tenor James Cornelison has recently made a significant amount of debut performances in companies around the world, including English National Opera (his British debut), San Francisco Opera, and Minnesota Opera in the signature role Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly . In addition, he sang Froh in Das Rheingold in San Francisco 's Ring cycle conducted by Donald Runnicles and directed by Andrei Serban. Recent performances have also included Mr.Cornelisons's European debut as the Steuermann in Der Fliegende Holländer , Bordeaux's new production directed by Francesca Zambello, Macbeth with Thêatre de la Monnaie in Brussels with conductor Anthony Pappano, Don Jose in Carmen with the Hawaii Opera Theater and in Tragedie of Carmen in Spokane, Washington, and in Galileo Galilei with The Goodman Theatre in Chicago and on tour in New York and London.
Engagements for the 2003-2004 season included his Baltimore Opera debut as Narraboth in Salome, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Nevada Opera, Turridu/Canio (cover) in Cavalleria Rusticana/I Pagliacci with San Francisco Opera, and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Opera Longview. Recent engagements included Cavaradossi in Tosca with Fort Worth Opera and Florestan (cover) in Fidelio with the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Next he will perform Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Anchorage Opera.
