James Cornelison

Mr. Cornelison has appeared frequently with the Lyric Opera of Chicago in Die Zauberflöte , Nabucco , Mahagonny , The Great Gatsby , as Flavio in Norma , and as Melot in Tristan und Isolde . Other performances include Rodolfo in La Boheme , Cavaradossi in Tosca , and the role of Schani in the operetta The Great Waltz . Mr. Cornelison has also performed with the Seattle Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Studio Opera of Highland Park, and the Light Opera Works.

Mr. Cornelison has appeared as a featured soloist in A Night at the Opera with the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra. Other concert appearances include Don Jose in Carmen with the Mid-Columbia Symphony, Helenus in Les Troyens with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Verdi's Requiem with the Cheyenne Symphony and The Apollo Chorus, and Beethoven's 9 th Symphony with the Florida Philharmonic and the Yakima Symphony.

Mr. Cornelison received his Masters of Music from Indiana University , and spent two summers with the Santa Fe Apprentice Artists Program. He has also studied with Florida Grand Opera, Indianapolis Opera, Palm Beach Opera, the Sarasota Opera Studio Artists Program, and the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists.

He has received awards at the Palm Beach Opera Competition, the George London Foundation Encouragement Grant, 1 st place in the American Opera Society of Chicago, the Shoshana Foundation, and the Sullivan Foundation Award.
