Bass-baritone Horace English is widely acclaimed for his artistic singing and interpretations in operatic and concert repertoire. Performing with opera companies including: New Orleans , Ft. Worth , Houston , Beaumont , and Shreveport , as well as the Goldovsky Opera Theatre. His operatic repertoire includes the bass and bass-baritone roles in Faust, Le Nozze di Figaro, Le Boheme, Susanna, Rigoletto, and Tosca, among others. He received Shreveport Times' Drama Awards for his performances in Man of La Mancha and Sweeney Todd.
Mr. English is in demand as a recitalist and guest artist in orchestral concerts. Past seasons include Messiah, the Faure Requiem and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
A native of Atlanta , Georgia , English is a graduate of Shorter College and holds a Master of Church Music from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Music from Florida State University . In addition to singing career, Dr. English is Professor of Music at Centenary College of Louisiana.
