BRAVO! has been organized in East Texas to promote the interest in and support of opera and the allied arts. It provides encouragement for talented young people and professionals in these fields and closely cooperates with the board members of Opera East Texas.
Our objective is to function in a way to improve the arts of Longview, especially the opera. Our Community Outreach is in the form of Previews of current operas and stars through fundraisers. Two major fundraisers are held in the spring: Pasta & Puccini in February and Kaleidoscope Musical Gala in May.
BRAVO! will also sponsor the annual National Young Opera Artists Competition held in September. The competition promotes young and upcoming artists working toward a career in professional opera.
BRAVO! also helps serve as hosts for the Opera events, including organization of housing, meals and cast party.
BRAVO! will function under the designation of Opera East Texas as an ad hoc committee. The volunteers will be called to meetings as needed throughout the year.
The League will function under the 501(c)(3) designation of the Opera East Texas Company as required by the United States Department of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, and incorporated in the state of Texas. The BRAVO! Opera East Texas Volunteers will be governed by an elected Executive Board and appointed General Board. The membership meets at least four times a year. |
