OPERA EAST TEXAS SEEKS CHORUS FOR 2007-2008 SEASON

To those singers interested in participating in events and programs with Opera East Texas 2007-08 Season "Magical Nights of Music":

For the past 17 years, Opera East Texas (formerly Opera Longview) has conducted various auditions for soloists, principals and chorus members as needed for projects, programs and events scheduled throughout the year ahead.

If you would like to be placed on the AUDITION CALL LIST, please contact info@operaet.com and list your contact information, including name, daytime phone, email address, age, experience and voice part.  Opera East Texas will notify you in advance when auditions are set.  Results of auditions are also placed on the website as soon as possible following audition.

Since we are producing a first-time Christmas opera "Amahl & the Night Visitors" by Menotti on Dec. 1, 2007, we will need a chorus.  OET is joining Fort Worth Opera in a stellar collaboration presentation.  We are offering all area churches to participate by learning the chorus music for the "Shepherd's Chorus."  (OET is furnishing the music for participating church choirs)  So we do not anticipate extended chorus rehearsal time. 

Auditions will be held in early November to select a chorus of approximately 20 - 30 voices, who hopefully already know the music through their church choirs.   Those who would like to participate otherwise should call the opera office for music: 903-234-1300 (Office Hours: M - F, 9 am - 5 pm)

Audition Call for "Amahl" will also serve as an audition for those interested in singing for other events and programs throughout the rest of the season.  We have need for singers at "Pasta & Puccini" and "Kaleidoscope Gala", which are fundraising events featuring musical entertainment.
