The newest arts group to form in Tyler is the Tyler Opera Advisory Council, a charter group formed by Opera East Texas that will explore and foster the growth of opera programs, performances, education and events for the Greater Tyler Area.

“The 2006-07 Board of Directors of Opera East Texas determined that leadership and advice from those interested in the performing arts and culture of Tyler would be a help in guiding us for the best outcome,” said Derrith Bondurant, General Director.  “We need those who love opera and opera education to help us.”

Only 16 people have been invited to serve on this charter council (names below).  Opera East Texas believes this core group will help determine the proper course for complimenting the cultural arts scene in the Greater Tyler Area.  Meetings will be held every other month in Tyler.  The Council will be introduced to OET’s present plans and past programs, and provide a featured guest speaker for each occasion.
